Dear Relatives, Pastors and Friends,

We rejoice for your continued interest toward our ministry. We write to both thank you and to update you.

In Acts 15:41 one reads: “And he [Paul] went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.” Thayer says the Greek word translated here “confirming” means (1) to establish besides, to strengthen more (2) to render more firm, to confirm. Also, Paul said in 1 Cor 14:12 regarding spiritual gifts, “Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying [i.e. building up] of the church. As part of our ministry God has given us opportunities to do both confirming and edifying. Our praise goes to Him for allowing us those privileges.

In our last letter we were just in the process of closing out our pulpit supply ministry at Grace Bible Chapel and turning things over to their new pastor. And we did not have anything in sight for awhile due to what looked like impending surgery (on my part) which did not have to take place. The Lord never makes mistakes and is never late! The very Sunday after I finished at GBC I spoke at Armstrong Valley Bible Baptist Church and a week after Joyce and I returned from the Canada trip they asked me to be their “interim pastor” until they can find a pastor.

“AVBBC” is located near Halifax, Pa about a one hour fifteen minute drive north of our home. So I drive up early Sunday mornings and then home after the evening service. Their pastor of 19 years died suddenly of a heart attack last December.  So I am filling the gap until they can get a full time pastor. Joyce is still playing at Grace Bible Chapel…so each Sunday we head separate directions in ministry. It does get “lonely” not being together at church but it is the direction the Lord has for us right now and we praise the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him.

Along with all of the above we continue the rest of our ministry. Conferences in the fall are scheduled for Ohio, New Hampshire and Maine. There is continued involvement with Way of Truth including board meetings, the fall Institute of Biblical studies module beginning is late September, etc.

So we need continued prayer for: (1) The Holy Spirit’s enabling for ministry (2) Health and strength [in every facet of our beings] (3) Safety in travel (4) The Lord’s provision financially…especially in the light of the ever increasing fuel prices [If you can help in this area it would be greatly appreciated.]

We praise the Lord and wish to thank Grace Bible Chapel for their appreciation gift for our ministry. It was a video projector better than the one we were trying to raise funds for!

As always we are your servants in the service of the Savior
